Underwriting support
The underwriting support team is responsible for a variety of non underwriting functions, which are split into 2 main areas – underwriting support and outwards reinsurance.
Underwriting support is a central resource that helps ensure our operations work more efficiently. Outwards reinsurance is the manner in which Ark protects itself against the risk of outsized insurance losses, and is an essential ingredient in running our business.
Underwriting support includes overseeing data quality, system liaison with external suppliers, systems training and support for all users. This means that the team review and assist with system enhancements and manage the planning, programming, testing and implementation of main-frame system releases.
The outwards reinsurance area helps with the initial production of information for reinsurers. Our team manages the outwards reinsurance placement process and work with our brokers to obtain the required protection.
Spending time in Underwriting Support will enable you to be involved in all aspects of underwriting support and the systems Ark uses – essential experience to develop an understanding of our business. All areas of work involve regular interaction and liaison with the entire organisation but also external contacts such as our chosen reinsurance partners.
